Abuelo's Tuna Appetizer

Abuelo's Tuna Appetizer
Copycat Recipe

Serves 2

1/2 cup Lawry's seasoned salt
1/3 cup crushed red pepper
3 tablespoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon coarse black pepper

6 ounces tuna
canola oil for frying

2 ounces lettuces (mixed baby, spring greens)
1/4 lemon

1/4 cup lime juice (about 2 limes)
1 tablespoon canola oil
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (allspice or cardamom work too)
1/8 teaspoon paprika

To make the tuna, blend all the seasoning ingredients together and rub on both sides of the tuna.  Heat a nonstick saute pan over high heat and add 1-2 tablespoons of oil to the pan.  Sear the tuna on each side for 30-45 seconds.  Refrigerate the tuna to chill.  Slice the tuna fillet into 1/8 inch thick slices.  Place spring mix in the center of a chilled plate. Serve the honey lime dressing on the side.

To make the dressing, I like to mix my salad dressings in a glass jar with a lid. Combine all ingredients and shake well to combine. Chill. Shake again before serving.
